AMORITA - Launches Today!

The unfortunate accident that occurred two years ago at the Robert Tiedemann Regatta in Newport between the Fife designed 1914, 94ft long, Sumurun and the two New York 30s ALERA and AMORITA is well documented. Each of these boats is well sailed and yet sometimes the wrong decisions can lead to disastrous results. In this instance, AMORITA was cut in half by the fast moving SUMURUM and sank to the bottom of the ocean in seconds near Beavertail, which is off Jamestown.

Today, the 1905 Herreshoff designed New York 30 AMORITA will be launched following a complete rebuild to mesh her two severed parts together. We've no doubt that she'll be in great racing form out of the gates and will once again stand on the podium at classic regattas on the East Coast.
